The Home front: World War 2 @ Home
Everyone made sacrifices during war time, including those at home. Women, African Americans and Japanese Americans were just a few groups that were making several changes, some forced and some more willingly. For example, women were becoming the heads of their household while the men were at war. They were working and raising a family. African Americans were joining the military, gaining high distinctions and honors, working in factory jobs and gaining ground on the Civil Right front. Japanese Americans, on the other hand, were losing rights, being detained, losing property, jobs, etc. Korematsu v. the US determined that the US government does have the right to take away your CIVIL LIBERTIES during times of war (state of EMERGENCY)!!
